| Our work on different visions of marriage led us to pay particular attention to the work of Japanese-American cartoonist Adrian Tomine. We liked his incisive humour and the fact that he strays away from a picture-perfect idealistic vision of love and relationships while being able to cast a caustic glance at his own shortcomings in his autobiographical graphic novels. That’s why we decided to pay tribute to his work by recording an audio version of an extract from his graphic novel « Scenes of an impending marriage » we studied in class. You can listen to our rendition of the arguments Sarah and Adrian are routinely having as they plan their wedding. You can also have a look at the different posters we created in order to promote our audio recording. Don’t forget that some of Tomine’s graphical novels are available in English at the school’s library. So check them out ! | Notre travail sur la perception que nous avons du mariage nous a amené à découvrir l’œuvre du dessinateur d’origine américano - japonaise Adrian Tomine. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié son humour caustique et le regard décalé qu’il pose sur le mariage et les relations de couple en n’hésitant pas à se moquer de ses propres travers dans ses romans graphiques. Nous avons décidé de lui rendre hommage en enregistrant un extrait de son roman graphique appelé « Scènes d’un mariage imminent ».
